Summary (Spoilers ahead!)

A few hours after the death of her mother, Railis sits in another room as her father argues with Burning Floe about the next course of action, as two of their members were responsible for Noteri's death. Ulleros, a student from a parallel flight and someone Railis considered a friend, comes to offer some comfort, but Railis lashes out at him physically and verbally, misguidedly directing her anger at Ulleros despite him having nothing to do with Noteri's death or the actions of his cousins. 

Her anger eventually drives Ulleros away, as he is underdtanding yet hurt, and Fulgan comes to collect Railis. He lashes out in anger at Burning Floe as he leaves, and the clan expresses their regret for the actions of their members. The perpetrator, Guard Avalyna, the eldest daughter of Commander Frozurne, was killed by Cryonius, her younger brother, when he and his girlfriend Favona found the scene and intervened, but Avalyna was killed, leaving her unable to be punished alongside her clutch brother Glacello, who was complicit to the crime.

Fulgan leaves with Railis and the two go to their separate rooms for the evening, and Railis's grief and pain break through as she listens to her father sob and let off electricity in his own room.
