Mistralus is the second son of Lord Auracius and his Unified, Mystralis. He is the younger brother of Auralis and their late brother, Aeolus.

Mistralus is a bitter and unfriendly man, suffering from a lifetime of neglect. Due to the circumstances of his history, he has an unhealthy relationship and loyalty to his father, who only pretends to care as long as Mistralus remains useful. Mistralus, having no other meaningful relationships, clings to his father and does anything for his approval.
And still, Auralis is the favorite. Mistralus is convinced he hates her, and that she doesn't deserve what she's been given.
History

Mistralus was born in the second clutch to Lord Auracius and Lady Mystralis, a lone egg. He was named after his mother and her ancestors.
Though his father cared little, all was well. His mother cared for him, and so did his older brother and sister. Mistralus looked up to his older brother, Aeolus, especially. Always wanting to be at his side.
As a child, Mistralus was a very different individual. Bursting with glee, energy, and love.
And then his brother died.
Aeolus had tried to run from home, and fallen to merciless wildlife. He had... abandoned Mistralus.
His death sent ripples through the family - breaking the heart of not only Mistralus, but that of his sister and mother. Mistralus, still a young child, needed the comfort he had grown up with, but in their own grief, neither Mystralis nor Auralis could be there for him.
The only one who could, was the one who didn't much care about the death of Aeolus. His son. Auracius was unaffected. Regrettably, Mistralus attached himself to the man for a semblance of comfort and love, and from then on, he was too afraid to let go. Too afraid to lose it all again.

By the time Auralis could see through her own grief, it was too late. Mistralus felt betrayed - by his late brother, by Auralis, by their mother. He'd been abandoned, and he would never forgive them. They'd shown him how much they truly cared, and they could not fool him again. His father was the only one who cared, Mistralus had convinced himself.
And so, Mistralus grew up, committing all his heart and time to earning his father's sparse love. But Auralis was chosen as a Guardian's Apprentice, and Mistralus was not. Auralis' mastery soared, and Mistralus' did not. Everything Mistralus wanted to do well for his father, Auralis did better. Always his favorite. Mistralus would always be compared to her, always lesser. He hated her.
At least now, she's been married out into Warfang, just another egg incubator for the Clans.
Mistralus would finally be free of her, finally in his father's spotlight. Finally he could get the love and meaning he'd always longed for.

Auralis
Mistralus despises his sister. Not only did she abandon him in his greatest time of need, she keeps showing him up, keeps trying to take his father away from him. How is it never enough for her? On top of it all, she keeps pretending to care for Mistralus. As if he'd ever believe her.
Australus and Aurackier
When it comes to his younger brothers, Mistralus parrots all of their father's talking points. He's happy enough to boss them around and degrade them, clinging to this little semblance of control in his life, using their failures to make himself feel and look better.
